Was it Dryrobe® territory in Paris?

If you thought you spotted Dryrobe® at the Olympic and Paralympic Games this summer, you were right!

We’re proud to have supplied Team GB and Paralympics GB athletes with bespoke Dryrobe® Advance change robes for Paris 2024.

Rowers, swimmers, and triathletes were just a few of the Team GB Olympians and Paralympians who received bespoke Dryrobe® Advance changing robes. The kit was used to help maintain their core temperature during competition and supported their recovery, thereby giving them a competitive edge.

We’ve been long-standing suppliers to Team GB at the Olympic and Paralympic Games, and we were so proud to continue this relationship at the 2024 Games. Our journey began back in 2016 when athletes specifically requested Dryrobe® change robes, and Team GB reached out to us to provide them for their water-based athletes. We have since provided Dryrobe® Advance change robes during Rio 2016, Tokyo 2020, Beijing 2022, and now Paris 2024.

Here’s an epic throwback to Rio 2016 when Paralympian Ellie Robinson made this striking entrance and went on to win gold in the Women’s S6 50m Butterfly.

Supporting GB Rowing at the Games

This year was extra special to us because of our flourishing partnership with British Rowing and the GB Rowing teams, who used Dryrobe® Advance change robes year round for their training and competitions kit.

2024 was an incredibly successful Games for the rowers, with Olympic gold medals won in the Women’s Quad Sculls, Women’s Double, and Men’s Eight. The team also earned two silver and three bronze medals at the Summer Games. An impressive three Paralympic gold medals were also won in the PR1 Men’s Single Sculls, PR2 Mixed Double Sculls, PR3 Mixed Coxed Four, as well as one silver in the PR3 Mixed Double Sculls.

We were thrilled to be in Paris to witness some of the rowing action and support Team GB. It was a once-in-a-lifetime experience to see GB Olympic rowing champions and podium finishers crowned firsthand. Attending GB House was an incredible evening, celebrating the amazing success of the GB Rowing athletes and enjoying the inspiring and insightful talks from athletes, including Olympic Champion Sir Chris Hoy.

We caught up with British Rowing CEO Alastair Marks during the event, who applauded all of the performances from the team, especially by the women. ‘I think the Women's Double with Mathilda Hodgkins-Byrne, the first ever mother to make the Olympic podium for GB, which was amazing. And Becky Wilde was a really, really strong result. We weren't necessarily expecting coming in simply because they only formed just around Christmas. But that was an amazing result. And we celebrated that just as much as it would have been a gold. What an amazing performance and history made.’

What sports used Dryrobe® at Paris 2024?

Outside of Stade Nautique de Vaires-sur-Marne, there were some phenomenal Olympic and Paralympic moments featuring Dryrobe®.

Swimmers and divers took advantage of the Dryrobe® Advance by the pool, with Team GB springing into action on the Olympic opening day with Yasmin Harper and Scarlett Mew Jensen achieving bronze medals in the Women's Synchronized 3m Springboard.

In the men’s diving, Noah Williams and Tom Daley won silver medals in the 10-metre Platform Synchronised event. Paris 2024 was Tom’s fifth and final Olympic journey, and he announced his retirement from diving after the Games.

Swimmer Adam Peaty made a splash, staying warm in his Dryrobe® Advance and achieving silver in the Men’s 100m Breaststroke, despite testing positive for COVID the morning after the final.

A standout moment was Ellie Challis, swimming for gold in the Women's 50m Backstroke S3, using the Dryrobe® Advance to keep her warm on her entrance to her career-defining race. The Paralympic swimmer is the World and European champion and then completed her world title glory by becoming a Paralympic champion.

Alice Tai achieved more victories in swimming, securing gold and bronze medals in the 100 m Backstroke S8 setting and the SM8 200m Individual Medley at the Paralympic Games.

Spotted: Team USA

It was epic to see Team USA using Dryrobe® Advance changing robes during the triathlon events with triathletes Morgan Pearson,  Seth Rider, Taylor Knibb, and Taylor Spivey keeping warm by the Seine. The U.S. Triathlon Mixed Relay Team achieved silver in an intense finish, with Germany taking the Olympic title and Team GB stealing bronze.

Surfing added to Paris 2024

As the creator of a completely unique product inspired by surfers and their dedication to getting in the sea during extreme weather, the introduction of surfing to the 2024 Games was an exciting addition. We were stoked to see German Surfer and Dryrobe® Ambassador Camila Kemp and German Surfer and Friend of Dryrobe® Tim Elter, who both used Dryrobe® as part of their training in the run-up to the games. We’re so proud of both of these athletes, you did Germany and the surf community proud.

Why do athletes choose Dryrobe®?

As a performance-lead product, the Dryrobe® Advance is used by athletes to warm them up quickly and improve recovery pre and post-competition or training.

Our signature, fast-drying lining enables athletes to train throughout the day without their recovery being compromised by a wet and cold changing robe.  The unique composition of the fleece perfectly balances insulation with the ability to wick water away from the skin. It’s combined with a waterproof outer shell fabric up to 10,000mm, complete with a PFC-free BIONIC-FINISH ECO® water-resistant finishing, to create a solid barrier against wind and water.
