It’s not surprising that Red Bull and Dryrobe have a history of working alongside one another- Red Bull aim to push extreme athletes through offering unique, unprecedented international sporting events, and we here at Dryrobe pride ourselves on supporting such extreme athletes, and helping them brave the elements.

Red Bull custom dryrobe – the ultimate change robe

The latest Dryrobe/Red Bull collaboration came this weekend in the form of the Red Bull Foiling Generation. After a hugely successful launch of the Red Bull Foiling Generation sailing series in Wakayama, Japan, Weymouth on England’s Dorset coast welcomed the second stop of double Olympic champions Roman Hagara and Hans-Peter Steinacher‘s quest to find the sailing stars of the future.

Open to ambitious sailors aged 16–20, the global competition will consist of seven events in as many countries – Japan, UK, Italy, Sweden, Denmark, Russia and France – with the winners of these national competitions going on to battle it out in the world final in late 2016.

The UK leg got under way at the Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy, with a three day battle for the coveted Red Bull Foiling Generation UK crown, and the chance to take on the worlds best young sailors at the world finals later next year.

Weymouth played host to 32 of the UK’s best young sailors, up against each other in identical Flying Phantom foils in a knock-out tournament leading to the deciding four-boat final.

Whilst Dryrobe provided customised Red Bull Foiling Generation advanced changing robes, we joined leading sailing hardware and accessories manufactures HarkenNutcase Helmets and Forward Sailing in ensuring that the promising young sailors had the advantage of the best equipment possible.

Owen Bowerman and Morgan Peach took the win in style from the pairings of Olivier Greber and Ed Connellan, Oliver Aldridge and Nathaniel Gordon, and Gillies Munro with Daniel Harris, earning the right to represent the UK against the best sailors from around the globe in the Red Bull Foiling Generation World Final in late 2016. There they will meet the winning foilers from the next events in Sweden, Japan, Russia, Italy, Denmark and France to to decide who will be crowned the world’s best young sailing team.
